US Secretary of the Air Force Michael W. Wynne and Air Force Chief of Staff General T. Michael Moseley resigned in the wake of a series of reports condemning the performance of key US Air Force bases in managing and handling nuclear weapons. They were replaced by Michael Donley as Secretary of the Air Force and Gen. Norton Schwartz as America's new Air Force chief.

Rear Adm. Denis Rouleau was announced to be the new Canadian vice chief of defense staff after Gen. Rick Hillier stepped down.
