  • KP- Afghan forces retake outposts built by Pakistan in the outskirts of Paktia
    The Afghan border police forces retook the outposts built by the Pakistani military in the outskirts of Paktia along the Durand Line. The provincial government media office in a statement said the outposts were built Anzarkai Kandu and Sarkai areas of Dand-e-Pathan district.
  • KP- 68 militants killed, wounded in coordinated air, ground operations
    The Ministry of Defense (MoD) officials are saying that 68 militants were killed or wounded during the coordinated air and ground operations in various provinces of the country in the past 24 hours. MoD deputy spokesman Gen. Mohammad Radmanish told reporters in Kabul that a total of 31 militants were killed ad 37 others were wounded during the operations.
  • KP- Senior Taliban leader and a woman killed in Logar province
    A local senior Taliban leader was killed during the clashes with the Afghan security forces in central Logar province of Afghanistan. The provincial government in a statement said the incident took place in the vicinity of the provincial capital after the Afghan forces were ambushed by a group of Taliban insurgents.
  • BNA- Civilian Gunned Down By Taliban Militants
    An innocent civilians martyred by Taliban militants in central Parwan province yesterday. Noor Aqa Sami district governor of Siagard district by confirming the incident told BNA reporter, Nematullah 32-year-old was martyred by Taliban militants in Shahi Khail village, Siagard district of the province. The militants first sharply beaten Nematullah then shooting him, Sami added.
  • KP- Afghan Army launches major operation in Zazai Maidan of Khost
    The Afghan military has launched a major operation in Zazai Maidan of Khost and Dand Pathan of Paktia province in the southeastern parts of the country. The 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan Military in the Southeast said the operation “Fatah” was launched earlier today in the two provinces.

    Afghan lawmakers have warned that a strategic province might fall into the hands of the Taliban if Kabul fails to act swiftly. Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, or lower house of the Afghan Parliament, told lawmakers that the security situation in the central province of Ghazni is alarming.

    Taliban militants launched a massive attack on Raghistan district, northern Badakhshan province yesterday noon. Col. Sayed Jahanger Karamat security director of Badakhshan told BNA correspondent, armed oppositions carried out a massive attack on center of Raghistan district of Badakhshan province.
  • KP- Afghan forces thwart deadly explosion plot in Kabul city
    The Afghan security forces have thwarted a plot by the anti-government armed militant groups to detonate an improvised explosive device in Kabul city. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials said a remote-controllied improvised explosive device was discovered from the 5th police district of the city before the militants manage to detonate it.
  • 1tvnews- 14 Pakistani soldiers killed in battle against Afghans: Afghan Defense Ministry
    As many as 14 Pakistani soldiers were killed while 17 of them were injured during latest battle near the Durand Line, Afghanistan's Defense Ministry said Monday. The battle in Zazai Maidan district of Khost started on Sunday morning as the Pakistan was building military installations along the Durand Line. Residents in the area also took part in the battle.
  • Stripes- US and Afghan SOF kill more than 20 ISIS militants in northern Afghanistan
    U.S. and Afghan special operations forces killed nearly two dozen Islamic State fighters in northern Afghanistan last week, the U.S. military said. A nighttime raid on Wednesday in Jowzjan province’s Darzab district killed 22 fighters, said a statement released on Sunday. The action came less than a week after a U.S. airstrike killed the group’s emir for northern Afghanistan, Qari Hekmatullah, in the same district.

Eulogies for all personnel killed on UK operations in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere are posted as soon as they have been released by the UK Ministry of Defence. Each eulogy we publish for men down in operations brings a lump to the throat. We are losing the best of the best. Politicians must ensure that, when the newspaper cuttings have faded, their sacrifice has had some meaning, has helped bring about a good result. Anything else would be a waste for which they will be eternally condemned.

There is invariably at least a 24 hour gap between the official release of news of an event and the naming of the dead. This is to allow families to be informed and proper eulogoies to be produced. Occasionally families request no euologies or comment. We abide by guidance we receive on such sensitive matters. We regret that information on those who sacrifice almost as much through grave injury is seldom released by the MoD for operational reasons, and so we are unable to pay tribute.
