June's small MoD contracts

MoD contracts for less that £1m awarded in June to nearly 40 British firms amount to £4.3m worth of business – an average of around £100k per contract – and it could be a good deal more.

Thales Underwater Systems Ltd, Stockport, Greater Manchester, have landed a £685,000 contract for sonar equipment, but the final value could be as much as £3.4m. The Underwater & Electronic Warfare (UEW), Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), Abbey Wood, Bristol is considering placing a single-source procurement for the in-service Sonar 2087 for the development of system alignment across hardware and software along with provision of information for cross decking to the proposed T26 Global Combat Ship. Thales have also been awarded a contract for Sonar S2087 FRITMA update and integration worth £326,858.
