BAE to Cut 500 Jobs, Close Three Plants After U.K. Order Delay
BAE Systems, will cut 500 jobs and close three plants after the British government delayed the purchase of armored vehicles. BAE will shut factories in Guildford, Leeds and Telford, England, with the loss of 330 jobs, the London-based company said today in an e-mailed statement. About 150 posts will be cut at sites in Newcastle, Leicester and Barrow, and 30 positions will be eliminated through "efficiency measures," it said.
