Business Secretary Rt Hon Vince Cable has told theHouse of Commons of a change of policy on the licensing of exports of, andtrade by British persons (trafficking and brokering) in, controlledgoods and technology to military end users in Argentina. Previouspolicy dating from 1998 required the refusal of licences forexports and trade which would enhance Argentine militarycapabilities but to permit licences for goods which maintainedexisting capability. In practice this has meant the authorisationof the export and trade of components for maintenance purposes.
